History
WHITE WING was built by Jas. Cadger in 1917 at Gardenstown, Morayshire, for John Ritchie of Whitehills, Banffshire. She was built as a two-masted lug rig and fitted with a Kelvin 26/30 hp engine. She remained at Whitehills until 1942 when she moved to Gourdon and was used for haddock line fishing. At some stage she was fitted with a Perkins engine which in turn was replaced in 1975 with a Lister 24 hp engine. In 1986 WHITE WING was gifted to the Scottish Fisheries Museum by the BBC after it featured in the film 'The Shutter Falls': a film about the Scottish herring fishing industry of the late 19th century. Since then the vessel has been largely re-constructed by the Museum. January 2010 (Archive)
