History
TERN was built by the Berthon Boat Company as a Lymington Scow. For many years she belonged to the St Denys Sailing and Rowing Club and raced with sister boats Tern, Heron and Curlew in Southampton waters. She was sold to John Bluff of Southampton and then to Barbara Hargreaves and kept on the Itchen. In 1986 she was bought by Tom Cunliffe, Yachtsman and author, for use by his daughter. In 1987, she was taken as tender to the Bristol Channel pilot HIRTA (then CORNUBIA) on a three months cruise to Norway. The following year she was again used as a tender on a cruise around Scotland and to Brittant. In the 1990's some frames and the samson post were replaced. Subsequently, she was sailed regularly on the Hamble and at the OGA events in the Solent area. She retains her bronzecentreboard and original builder's brass plaque. May 2011
