History
This Belton Seabird was displayed on the Teamac stand at the 2014 Boat Show.
Belton had a range of three boats, the SEABIRD (2/3 seater), SPEEDBIRD (4 seater), and a THUNDERBIRD (a V8 powered speedboat). All the boats were built within the space of 4-5 years in the late fifties, early sixties and are very rare, as the total numbers built were approx 30 SEABIRDS, 10 SPEEDBIRDS and maybe 3 THUNDERBIRDS. The Belton range of three seagoing sports boats were all designed by R T Dalliston and were built in his workshops at 24 Church Street Wells next Sea between 1959 and 1962. Marketing was handled by S T Belton Ltd of Boston. Specifications and prices were competitive at £425 for the SEABIRD £475 for the 4 seater SPEEDBIRD and £1350 for the THUNDERBIRD with a V8 engine. ( as advertised in the January 1961 Boat Show edition of Motor Boat and Yachting) S T Belton had a stand at the 1961 Boat Show and were registered as a company in 11/10/1960.
