History

SOPHIE was built by W E Thomas at Falmouth in 1891 as a working Quay Punt. She was sold in 1912 to B Tracey in Falmouth and converted to a yacht, and then in 1920 to John Gretton who used her on the Solent.. She was purchased by A W Cole of the Isle of Wight in 1946 who fitted a four cylinder Morris engine in 1947. Thereafter she had a number of opwners before being bought by her present owner in 1994. Extensive restoration at the Elephant Boatyard was spread over many years. Short listed as Restoration of the year by Classic Boat Jan 2008.
