History
SEAWIND is a very interesting craft whose comprehensive history is not yet known. It is believed she was built in the 1920's , possibly in France to a very high standard for out and out racing, from the quality of the build. The mahogany planking is lap strake- each plank is splined to lap over, like a smooth skinned clinker. It is thought this was to limit take up so she could be dry sailed between races. She has very graceful lines and is fast and dry to sail. The keel is cast and has cut outs for lead ingots to be added depending on weather conditions. SEAWIND was originally rigged as a gaff cutter and may have had a counter stern. The present owner is in the process of restoring her as faithfully as possible to her original appearance and is eager to discover more of her history whose sentiments we share.
