History
RUBY is a salmon boat built by D & W Trout c1906. For many years Ruby was owned and fished by Jim Voysey of Topsham. Jim and his crew of three would go out every day of the salmon season. Starting from Church Causeway they would row down as far as Starcross on the ebb tide and shoot their nets four or five times before rowing back to Topsham on the flood tide with their catch. The fish were then weighed and sold to individual buyers When Jim retired RUBY was donated to ISCA. RUBY was bought back from ISCA on closure of Exeter Maritime Museum and restored using a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund in 2007. Apl 2014 GH
