History
Clinker built 25ft racing skiff. The Loughor gig type of craft evolved from the pilot gigs that operated in the West Country doing general ferrying work between vessels and the shore. In 1926 John Charles Williams, a Loughor man who made his fortune in America, donated three racing gigs. One each for the lower, upper and Bwlch y Mynydd districts of the estuary, painted red, white and blue. They were raced against each other and other local boats at the twice yearly regatta.
