History
Pipkin is a 12ft Cape Cod cat-boat. A cat-boat has just one sail and one mast stepped right in the bow. This type of craft originated in the USA. A cat-boat named Una was brought to Cowes by the Marquis of Conyngham in 1853. She was a popular sight and led to many more cat-boats being built and sailed in the Solent. This replica boat was built in 1980.
