History
Built about 1936, this type of folding canoe was designed by Hans Klepper in 1906: by 1920 it was popular worldwide. One was used by Captain Romer to cross the Atlantic in 1928, using a Sachs outboard motor and paddles. In a modified form, the folding canoe is still in use by armed forces around the world. This canoe is complete with a rare Sachs outboard motor in mint condition, as well as an original camping tent. - see article in Classic Boat 2007 July page 46 skin of boat damages displayed as a frame only to show key points of unique folding construction.
