History

MAREAN, KY 120 is reported by the present owner as having fished from the following harbours:- Berwick-on-Tweed, Amble and South Shields, during which time a Ford 4D diesel engine and a small wheelhouse were added. It is believed that in 2000 she was converted to sail by Freddy Crowell, the boatbuilder at Shields, for Tony Van Hee who kept her at Alnmouth. She attended the Festival of the Sea at Edinburgh in 2005. In 2009 she was taken by road to Arbroath where several new bottom planks were fitted and new masts made. The present owner first saw her on a trailer in Amble Boatyard in August 2012, whence he bought her and took her by road to Dunbar where she is presently undergoing restoration on the pier: he hopes these will be completed for a spring launch in 2013.
