History

MAID OF TESA was the first Vertue to be home-built. Every job was done by a Mr A Potter except for the rough sawing of larch timber and the casting of the keel. The build was supervised by Jack Laurent Giles during occasional visits to the north east and incorporated all the modifications in design suggested by Laurent Giles, plus the use of 'beefed-up' scantlings. Some repairs and replacements have taken place, including a new deck and coachroof, and a plank in the hull damaged by a fishing boat that broke loose in a storm in 1987. February 2010
