History
Built by Philip Waters of Appledore in 1890s (maybe as early as 1892) for Mr Alfred Braund. This class of boat was developed in the second half of the 19th century for inshore herring fishing out of Clovelly, North Devon. Known as Picarooners, they were heavily built to withstand the pounding they took on both the harbour surface and the fishing grounds. THE LITTLE MARY was purchased by NMM in 1969 from Mr Alfred Braund, Coxswain of the Clovelly Lifeboat and son of the original owner. October 2007 Has had her lines taken to allow two replicas to be built by the Falmouth Marine School GH May 2013
