History
KIWI was given to Prince Philip and Princess Elizabeth as a wedding present by the New Zealand Navy. The vessel was built by Mr Eric Midgely at the HMNZ Dockyard at Devonport, New Zealand in 1948 to the design by Uffa Fox of a RNSA 14ft dinghy. Shipped to Britain in 1948, KIWI was used by several sailing centres for training purposes before being loaned by HRH The Duke of Edinburgh to the National Maritime Museum Cornwall. February 2009
