History
Designed by M Batting and built in 1912 by Morgan Giles as a single-step inboard hydroplane fitted with a 4ltr marinised Vauxhall engine similar to those used in the successful Vauxhall Prince Henry sports car of the period. JAZZ is not considered to have been her original name. This craft is in running condition. - see article in Classic Boat 2003 July page 50 GH July 2011 More info in Motor Boat 28 Dec 1911 as to her construction GH 28 Jun 2014 Images Cowes 2009. JAZZ needs to be compared with BATBOAT II formerly displayed in the Southampton Maritime Museum and sold at auction by Phillips at Henley in 1999 as it is possible that it maybe the same craft.
