History
This is a sailing version of the popular folding canoe produced by Granta, a well known firm in the 1950s and 1960s. The canoe is assembled with a framework of wooden poles which slot together. The covering skin is waterproof canvas. Canoeing as a leisure pastime was popularised in the late 1800s by the doyen of canoeists 'Rob Roy' MacGregor. When boating in general became more popular after the Second World War, canoeing was was a cheap and easy way of taking to the water.
