History

Suffolk Beach Punt returned to Aldeburgh for restoration GH Jan 16 FOUR DAUGHTERS was later owned by Steve Bowers, the Grimsby Fishing Museum and the Eyemouth Museum. In 2015 Robert Simper arranged to have her brought back to Aldeburgh, where Nicholas Hill plans to create a sea-front museum. Providing funding can be organised, FOUR DAUGHTERS will be fully restored and take pride of place there. Both men are determined that the Aldeburgh beach fishing boats will be preserved to remind us of a way of life that no-longer exists but which used to be the main way of life at Aldeburgh. Paul Strowger, son of the original owner,Sid Strowger says, 'She was the finest trawler on the beach'. She was used for trawling for flatfish but also for line fishing for cod. Sadly, his father, Sid, died whilst out fishing in her in 1982. She is at present at Upsons Boatyard in Aldeburgh, awaiting restoration. Sheena Grant. (East Anglian Daily Times. 5/12/2015
