History

FISHER LASS was built in 1926 by Arthur Thomas Miller of Port St Mary, Isle of Man, and is the only vessel still in existence built by the yard. Originally built for Robert Ash and Johnny Clague who owned a fleet of rowing boats, FISHER LASS, later owned by Robert’s son, was used in the summer to tow these 'rowies' out into Douglas Bay with tourists. In the winter she was used for long line fishing off Port St Mary. Around 1956 she appears to have become a full-time fishing boat, only to return to leisure use in 1969. In 2003 she was purchased by her present owner, an enthusiast in the research of fishing boats. This vessel is an interesting example in that her hull design crosses over the period between sail and motor. She is currently being restored by Scott Metcalfe at Port Penryn, North Wales.
