History
This Thames double sculling gig was built by George R Dunton at Shepperton in 1983. Dunton was famous as the builder of the 'Best and Best' and 'Two Foot' racing punts and, by repute, built the lightest punt ever used on the Thames. This gig, known as DUNTON'S GIG, is interesting in having a child’s forward seat with fully shaped backrest. At one time she belonged to the Vicars of Goring and Pangbourne, and later to Inspector Fleichman of Thames Conservancy. She was rowed in the Great River Race in 1997,1999 and 2006. January 2008
