History
Breydon gun punts were built by Yarmouth boatbuilders and in addition to wildfowling they were also used for fishing. This punt is a double punt with a crew of two one paddling and one manning the gun mounted along the bow. The gun used was essentially a large shot gun capable of firing half a pound of shot at flocks of wildfowl on the water, sometimes as many as 50 birds were killed with a single shot. Gunpunts were used on Breydon water until the 1940's. GH June 2010
