History

CHAFFINCH was ordered as the Bure River Conservancy launch and was built at Potter Heigham by Ernst Woods in 1930. Took part in security patrols on the Broads during WW2. In the late 40's or early 50's CHAFFINCH was taken in part exchange by Lincoln & Appleyard at Ely against the cost of her new replacement. When the yard closed Mr Appleyard took her to Huntingdon where he used her during his retirement. Sold to the present owner in 1982. Chaffinch has remained as constructed except for a series of engine changes. The original engine was a Brooke Marine petrol. This was replaced with a Stuart Turner two stroke diesel and then a Vetus 10 hp diesel GH Apl 2011 ( Archive)
