History
This Dragon class yacht is owned by H M The Queen and HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, having been given to them as a wedding present by members of the Island Sailing Club in 1948. BLUEBOTTLE had a varied and successful racing career, the highpoint of which came when she was selected as the British yacht for the 1956 Melbourne Olympics. She returned with the Bronze Medal. She continued to race in many countries around the world. In 1962 she was loaned to Britannia Royal Naval College to give Officers Under Training the opportunity to sail this class of yacht. After moving to the care of NMMC a major restoration was carried out by Hunkin's Yard at Polruan, Fowey. April 2010
