History

This is a birch bark canoe of the Malecite Indian type. It was imported into England for pleasure boating and for this purpose it had zinc buoyancy tanks inserted at each end. It was presented to NMM by Mr Gavin Astor, Times Newspapers, in 1970. October 2007
