See Phillip's Auction catalogue 1999. believed to be Ex Southampton Maritime Museum. Cf JAZZ Reg 1584. Both designed by M Batting. Aug 2015 GH
BATBOAT II was originally powered by a 369cc Vauxhall Prince Henry 4 cylinder side valve engine and finished first in the 1913 British International Trophy Trials. The design ofBATBOAT II and her successor (BATBOAT III) were seen as influential in the design of the Thorneycrot cmb's in WW1.She raced successfully between the wars and in the 30's was tajen to America where she engaged in running illicit liquor on the Hudson River. Re-engined with an Alexander-tuned 6 cylinder Ford Zephyr engine, she continued to be a fast and exciting boat. She was for many years on display in the Southampton Maritime Museum.
