History
This 16 ft yacht was designed in 1923 by Frank Peters for use in local racing. In the hands of her designer, she was very successful. Eventually a total of forty five similar boats were built, of which all but two still exist. AILEEN is unique in the class in having gunter rig. She was owned by Peters until 1949. When sold her name was changed to PIGEON. She was thought to have been lost for a while until in 1987 she was spotted in the front garden of a house in Thames Ditton. Donated to the St Mawes O D Association by her owners, she returned to St Mawes and was restored by John Leach in the same yard where she was built. She was presented to NMMC by the St Mawes O D Association in 2002 and currently is on display and afloat in Falmouth. August 2009
