History

The date of build of this salmon fishing coracle is unknown. It is of a type used on the River Teifi. It is bluntly triangular in plan with the apex forming the stern. A distinguishing feature is that the frame is made from willow laths with a plaited band of hazel withies around the circumference. The deal seat is supported by wooden pillars set into a wooden bar on the floor on the left hand side. The paddle for this type is a single piece with a shaped grip. It was presented to NMM by Mr John Holt in 1972. October 2007
