History
SOFTWING was built in 1900 and was one of the last boats built at Penpol on the Fal estuary by Frank Hitchens. She worked the oyster beds of the Fal for more than 60 years. In the summer period she was sometimes used for shark fishing. About 1970 she was purchased by the National Maritime Trust and later by the Cornish Maritime Trust. Both carried out restorations and the vessel is currently sailing on the Carrick Roads. June 2010 (Picture courtesy of Classic Boat)
