History
This small two man crabber was built for Benjamin Blamey by Arthur Johns of Portloe. Mr Johns was 70 when he built the boat and she was one of about 18 in Portloe at the time. ROSE had two unstayed masts: a dipping lug on the fore and a sprit or standing lug on the mizzen. After her original owner died in 1911, she was laid up for over 50 years and as a result remained virtually unchanged since she was built. She was purchased by NMM in 1974 and restored by Hinks of Appledore in 1980-84. Now at NMMC Falmouth. October 2007
