History
TOM TIT was built by George Cave at Fay's yard, Millstone Point (now Shamrock Quay), Southampton I 1894. Unlike many other Itchen Ferries, she was built of Burmese teak (?offcuts from grand racing yachts being built at the yard). In 1920 she was fitted with a Universal petrol engine and by 1947 had been converted to Bermudan rig and moved to the West Country. In 1987 she was back in the Southampton area and was purchased by her present owner. A major restoration was started and the re-launch took place in 1996. July 2010 (Picture courtesy of Classic Boat)
