History
This West of England Conference dinghy was designed and built by Morgan Giles in 1910 and was involved in 1911 in a famous series of races with the Norfolk Restricted Class dinghy, IRENE. Her clear success in every race established her design as the leading contender for a National 14 foot racing class: later to become the International 14 class. FIREFLY was built for Sir Guy Standing who kept her on the Thames. She was sold to the Bradshaw family in 1936 who used her on the Broads before presenting her to the Merseyside Maritime Museum in 1986. In store. GH Dec 2012 cf IRENE 1992
