History

Designed by Peter Nethercott for single-handed racing or family sailing, the Kenn-Eleven is an 11 ft. hard chine, centreboard boat suitable for home building. The mast can be stepped in either of two watertight boxes, forward with main only for single handed sailing or slightly more aft, with jib. It is unstayed as in an International Finn, and the absence of shrouds and forestay simplifies quick changes from one rig to another. Fore and aft buoyancy tanks are built into the hull, the top of the after tank being at seat level. More than 40 of the boats had been built by the end of 1958 when a Class Owners' Association was in formation. The Kenn-Eleven has similar sailing performance to the Heron, Gull or Eleven Plus. Sail marking shoes the letter "K" and figure "11" with the class number of the boat below it.
