History
A 12' single or double handed keelboat designed by Olympic bronze medallist Jo Richards (also designer of a number of popular dinghy’s including the Laser Pico) and Neil Graham in 1981. The Design is based on a scaled version of ‘Lionheart’ a Twelve metre yacht, and to react in the same way to give match racing practice for the America’s Cup crews.
Lady Alethia was built on the Isle of Wight by the Jo Richards Company in 1984. She is one of the few two handed versions of the Illusion class thought to exist, with only three made at Bembridge. She has been sailed extensively around the UK and France by her previous owner to the delight of all who saw her, and was notably commented on by Sir Robin Knox-Johnson as to her sailing manoeuvrability.
