History

Built as the ACCLAIM in 1974 by Harrisons of Amble, this Northumbrian Coble was specially designed to fish for salmon and trout with nets close inshore along the beach line. She wass successful as a working boat and was owned by Mr Harry Chamberlain in 1994. He was one of the few fishermen who actually worked on the last of the Tyne foy boats. He continued to maintain the boat to a high standard, which he renamed MARY YOUNG in memory of his mother. He replaced the original Lister PH2 engine in 1995. The boat continued to earn her keep until sold to Mr Dave Parker in 2008 who extensively restored her to her original design and renamed her IRENE PATRICIA in memory of his late wife. The boat is now in very fine condition, fully seaworthy and a first class example of the smaller cobles built for close inshore fishing along the North East coast. 21st July 2015 NRJ
