History
TOM SHERRIN has had three owners only (see above) She was named after a well-known local character and war hero in a civic champagne ceremony at her launch in 1970. In 1996 TOM SHERRIN was immortalised by an etching of the boat in a stone memorial plaque buiult into the wall of the Poole Pilot Office. In 2004 she escorted HM Queen, Prince Philip & the Duke of Kent in a lifeboat from RNLI HQ to RM Hard. In 2005 she participated in the Queen's Fleet Review and International Festival of the Sea as escort to Prince Michael of Kent. In 2009 she won a prize in the Flotilla of Lights and in 2012 was invited to join the procession of craft at the grand opening ceremony of the Twin Sails Bridge.
In 1974 TOM SHERRIN was re-engined with a Ford Sabre diesel, and again in 1978, 1982 and 1986. In 2000 the mast was shortened.
