History
MAGGIE (previous name CUCKOO) was originally a Fishing Vessel, (FY22) built in Looe in 1907. In the 1930's she was bought by the present owner's great-grandfather who fished her throughout the 2WW. (She can be seen on the Great Little Ships of Britain youtube). After being sold to somebody in Looe in 1946 it is thought she continued to be used as a fishing boatuntil the 1950's. MAGGIE was then found by a bank manager at Hooe Lake, Plymouth, who employed a retired shipwright to renovate her and convert her for his private use. A twin cylinder Kelvin was then installed under a plywood coach house aft.
The present owner bought her in April 2014 and had her transported to St Germans boatyard, Cornwall. After working on her for two months MAGGIE was sailed back to her original home of Polperro after a 70 years absence! She at present has a Morris Vedette engine which is due to be changed for a diesel engine in the winter of 2014.
