History

Sold at Auction 26 Jul 17 . Italian Gondola from Venice. These craft were developed over several centuries into this version now used as a 'water taxi' for carrying tourists around the Venetian canals. A single oarsman rows the boat standing up using one oar, the hull of the boat is curved to stop the boat swinging off course. Built in 1946 one of a pair brought back to Cornwall in by Mr G Saunders in 1969. GH 28 Nov 16
