History

THUNDERBOLT is a 25ft Christina Mk VI which won the 1961 Cowes Torquay powerboat race, driven by Tommy Sopwith. She was originally powered by twin Crusader petrol engines, giving a total of 650hp. Because these V8 engines were too wide to sit side by side, the engines were staggered. The starboard engine had a conventional shaft, amd the port engine was set further aft, driving further through a v drive.THUNDERBIRD is the only production cruiser ever to be outright winner of this race. She has been restored by Mike James. 30/07/2013 NRJ
