History
Designed (C1956) as a 12ft sectional 'Packboat' by T Whittle & Sons of Warrington. Built of hot-moulded laminated timber with mahogany gunwales, varnished throughout and constructed in three sections, which bolt together with gaskets to form the finished craft. Each section nests into the others for simple stowage when not in use. They could be carried the roof rack of a small car such as the Triumph Herald. 50 years on they can be fitted inside a modern Ford Focus. It would be possible to mount a small outboard on the transom. These craft were exhibited at the 1957 Boat Show at Olympia. Another example of the type is LEAF which attended the Thames Traditional Boat rally in 2009. Jan 2015 GH
