History
BENS CHOICE, an RNSA 24, is thought to be only one of two left in the world, the other being in Nova Scotia. This class of yacht restarted ocean racing after the war, the most famous of these, the Samuel Pepys, can no-longer be found. These yachts were in the vanguard of the new breed of light displacement racing yachts.
BENS CHOICE was a significant racing vessel of her time and raced in 21 RORC races, finishing 17. She also raced in the Dover to Kristiansand Race, the Plymouth to La Rochelle race and completed the 1963 Fastnet.
She is laid up at present, in need of a refit. Her hull is in fair condition, all her hull timbers are original, but needs new floors and new rig and sails. A complete rebuild is planned back to original specification. BENS CHOICE is a significant racing vessel of her time and should certainly be preserved. Owner. May 2012
