History
VENTURE was built by the owner as a hobby whilst a boarder at Ampleforth College for which he received a distinguished prize. The boat was constructed in as short a time as 4 terms with only a set of plans to go by. The interior was entirely of his own design, incorporating 4 seats with watertight lockers, 2 of which were mounted on a deck which could be removed in a single piece to facilitate cleaning. Many unsuspected details such as the numerous mortice and tenon joints used in the seats and the excellent scarf joints of the hull were hidden beneath the fine blue polyurethane finish. When launched, the boat functioned exactly as hoped and did not leak a single drop of water. The Ampleforth Journal 1964.
Venture was launched at Rye in Sussex in April 1965 and over a few weeks was gently tested up to a speed of 30 knots. She was then used in various parts of the British Isles over the following 10 years and in Spain in 1968.
She has been well maintained and repainted on at least 2 occasions. Owner. 11/02.2012
VENTURE is a very fine example of a young amateur building his boat to a 'professional' standard. GH Apl 2012
