History
JESSIE was built about 1875 at Johnshaven (?). In 1922 she was moved from Johnshaven to Gourdon and was used for part time line and creel fishing. Around 1938 she was decked and a Kelvin petrol/paraffin 7/9 hp engine was fitted. A piece was cut out at the bottom of the stern post to allow a propellor to be fitted without interfering with the rudder. The deck and engine were removed in the 1960's. This type of boat with dipping lug can still be seen on the islands of Lewis and Harris. JESSIE is now on display at the Scottish Fisheries Museum at Anstruther, Fife. January 2010 (Archive)
