History
'BLUE BOAT' in store at Lyness believed to have originated from Sanday. Undecked.
Condition fair, would require the replacement of several 'strokes' before she would be fit for display. This boat, like FOAM, has a more upright straight stem than normal. The top 'stroke' is badly damaged but this boat retains some good old fashioned features such as, heavy 'grown' knees, fitted belaying pins and incised edges on her thwarts. She gives the impression of having been well built and old. This boat is interesting but needs more investigation to see if she is worth the time and expense to restore her. Awaiting information from Museum. November 2009GH
