History
Built in 1926 by Woodnutt's as a Solent Sunbeam OD named LIVELY V 29 (29th of the class), she was based on the Hamble before being sold to an owner in Bembridge. In 1933 she was bought by Col R G Perry who won a silver medal at the 1956 Olympics in the 5.5m class. Based in Itchenor she was bought by the constituents of the then Conservative MP and Minister of Transport A T Lennox Boyd as a gift to him in 1953. When he retired and became Lord Boyd of Merton in 1960 LIVELY was moved to Saltash where she had an engine fitted and where she remained for a further 16 years. She was renamed VERITY in 1982 by her then owner J O Tresidder of St Mawes. Bought by her present owners in 1996 she was given a four year restoration before being relaunched in 2000. She now sails regularly in the Falmouth Sunbeam Fleet. GH Nov 2009
