History

This Hamble One Design was built by Luke & Co in 1913 as the BIDDY with sail number H 14. She was donated to the St Helier Yacht Club in 1924 by Sir Jesse Boat and his wife, and renamed JESSE. She was used to teach cadets to sail. In the late 1940's she was sold into private ownership. In 1996 Mrs Collette Crill donated JESSE to Jersey Heritage. The vessel was the first boat to be restored by the Maritime Museum (with the support of local institutions) and was re-launched in 1999.
