History
This Hamble One Design was built in 1913 by Luke & Co at the Hamble and originally named DODDY and, at some time, JU-JA. She was renamed FLORENCE in 1924 and donated to St Helier Yacht Club by Sir Jesse Boat and his wife, where she was used to teach cadets how to sail. During WW II she suffered some damage in an air raid on St Helier harbour in 1940. In the late 1940's she was sold into private ownership. In 1996 she was bought by Jersey Heritage and in 1999 was taken into the Maritime Museum workshop for restoration which was funded by Mr and Mrs David Crossland. She was re-launched in 2000 and is now used as a floating exhibit at the Museum. January 2009
