History

This early Victorian yacht tender was built by Richard Burden and Sons at St Helens Green, Isle of Wight at some time between 1880 and 1890. She was designed to hang from davits but early in her career, FOLLY was converted to sail. She was stored in a shed at East Mersea when the yacht she served was laid up prior to World War I. She came out of the shed in the mid-1970’s and was used briefly. Since then she has just completed a nine year restoration. October 2008
