History
JANORA is a Mrs Ranzo Class sloop designed by William Maxwell-Blake in 1935 and built in 1950 by A V Robertson of Woodbridge. Among the owners of JANORA was Mr Douglas Kennedy O.B.E., Director of the English Folk Dance and Song Society (from 1961 to 1988). Purchased by her present owner in 2000, she was moved from Woodbridge to Oulton Broad. Some repairs and re-rigging have taken place, and in 2004 a new rudder was fitted.
It is believed that the original Mrs Ranzo Class was built in 1935 by Crosbies of Cowes, and that she still exists although in changed appearance. Named, then MARANZO and now ALICE FOR SHORT. October 2008 (Archive)
