History
WILD DUCK was buiIt as a working quay punt by Burt in 1894 and owned by Reginald and William Tonkin. She was one of two boats with the same name, the first was detroyed by vandals: this is the second boat. In 1900 she was listed as belonging to the Falmouth Oyster Bailif, and in 1914 she was bought by G Romney Fox who converted her to a yacht and undertook a number of cross-channel cruises. Owned in 1930 by Maj E E Mulock port Fowey LYR 36 and and in 1938 by C L Hall port Burnham on Crouch LYR 50, she is reported to have had Ailsa Craig engine (this was probably not the original because her Fishing Register Certificate pre-1915 listed her as sails:motor auxilary yawl). In 1950 she moved to the Solent area when owned by C B S Dawson where she remained for some years under various owners. Re-named OLD TIMER in 1970, she reverted to her original name in 1972 when purchased by David Davis and returned to Cornwall in 1982. By 1988 she belonged to the Gweek Maritime Museum and in 1995 she was owned by World Boats Trust of Constantine who planned to restore her. In 2001 she was moved to Mylor Yacht Harbour where the desire to restore/rebuild her continues. May 2010 (Picture courtesy of FQP Association/NMMC)
