History
NEWQUAY was built in 1812 by Peters as a pilot gig and sold to W Broad and Son, Lloyds agent in Falmouth. Moved to Newquay at later date. Acquired by Newquay Rowing Club prior to WWII. Restored and 're-shaped' by Brabyn of Padstow in 1955: found to have an oak keel instead of usual American elm and 3/8' planks in place of usual 1/4'. Further restoration made at NMMC in 2007. Continues to be used for racing. June 2008. (Picture courtesy of Classic Boat)
