History
Built about 1937 by Hornby of Wallasey, probably to serve as a pilot boardind punt but was disliked by pilots who preferred traditional double-enders. Consequently, she was modified and became a gig boat and named CAROL ANN. In July 1962 she provided a tow for the start of the maiden flight of the Thornycroft VA3 hovercraft. In about 1965 the original ‘Handy Billy' engine was replaced with a Petter 16.5 hp diesel. In 1978 she was re-named ETHEL and worked until 1980, when she was presented to the Mersey Maritime Museum by Liverpool Boatmen Association. November 2007
